Reason #95 for a return trip to Pompeii

I was thinking of the recent 3 part series of the recent did at Pompeii that was on PBS. This area wasn't part of it, but there is going to be even more to see in the future at Pompeii.

I recall planning my trip and there was lots of advice that most of Pompeii's treasures were not on site but at the Archaeological Museum in Naples. That's true, but I was surprised on my visit last year of how many frescos are on site, and unlike in the past they are being protected so they can stay on site. 12 hours over 2 days weren't enough last year. There will be another trip to the region in the future.

This is exciting! In hindsight, I would have rather spent another day exploring Pompeii instead of visiting the Archaeological Museum in Naples, where a lot of "the good stuff" was on loan to other museums around the world.

Next time, maybe you will have time to make it to Stabiae.

It was our intent to make it to Stabiae, but when we found the shuttle, the driver said he was going to Oplontis, so we went there instead, no regrets, Oplontis was fantastic.
