My partner and I are renting a villa in Tuscany with some great friends and I'm thinking this would be a cool situation in which to end up married. We leave in a month. Does anyone know if it's feasible to really elope in Italy - not hire a planner and go through all the rigmarole - just get the papers in order, get married and have a nice dinner afterwards.
The paperwork required is massive...it'll be touch and go whether you can assemble it all in a month.
These sites describe the legal requirements

The above is from the Consular office that covers the Tuscany area.
However, I'm including the link below, from the Naples office, because it gives an easier to understand explanation of the same thing

After you get through reading these, you may come to the conclusion that a legally effective marriage in Italy, without a wedding planner and on short notice, may not be as easy or quick as you were hoping for.
