Re: Rome central to Airport Departure

Hi
Does anyone have a recommendation of a car hire to get to the Airport for a departure on time?
I would take the Leonardo express train however it does not leave before 6:38 AM and I have my international flight home at 9:15 am. My husband and I are staying in an Airbnb in the monti area of rome..so no hotel concierge to help us.
I've read you need to be at the airport a minimum of 3 hrs due to security.
Any recommendations would be great as I need to reserve this now.
We are flying out on the 10th of this month.
Thank you

We had great service with Rome Cabs. Reserve online and they will tell you what time they need to pick you up.

Is it a direct flight back to the US or a connecting flight to somewhere else in Europe? Big difference in time needed. 9.15 is a little early for direct flights to the US. At that time of morning two hours is fine IF you are not flying directly to the US.

We've used romashuttle.com many times and can highly recommend them. I think their cost is 45€ or 48€, but you could check their website.

Another recommendation for Rome Cabs. Private car service despite the name. Used them a number or time and always very pleased with the service and price.

Those car services generally charge 50 euros a pop (compared to 48 euros for a taxi). Increasingly the car services have started lobbying Americans for a tip, noting online and on your confirmation email that a gratuity is NOT included. An Italian would never dream of tipping.

You need to reserve the services well in advance, as they do get booked up with cruise ship passengers on certain days. Depending on where in Monti you're staying, there is quite possibly a taxi rank nearby that you can use if you can't get a reservation. They work great even early in the morning. Here's a map (zoom in and look for the orange dots): https://www.tuttocitta.it/taxi/roma

48 euros fixed fare. I usually hand them a 50 and tell them to keep the change.

You can also take a regular taxi. The flat fare to the airport is 48€.
Read the informative article below on taxi service. I’m sure you will use it sometimes during your Rome stay, and not just from or to the airport.

If your flight is direct to the US, most airlines suggest to be there 3 hours ahead of departure, if you have bags to check.
If you only have carry on luggage, then 2.5 hours are more than sufficient.
Actually I rarely get to the airport 3 hours ahead. I usually get there 2.5 hours even with bags to check, and I always made it with plenty of time to spare to wait at the gate.
