ravenna to assisi

this site is great and thanks in advance for your input! what do you recommend for travel from Ravenna to Assisi? I was hoping there would be a bus instead of a train ride for not a long distance. Or should we skip Ravenna and just go to Assisi from Venice? thanks again, Cheri

There is one really nice train at 6:22 am with a single change at Foligno that gets there in 3 hr 45 min. Everything else is 2 to 4 changes and 5+ hours.
I don't where you get its not a long distance. Its a fair stretch (250 km as the train goes) and through the Apennines.

cheri, As mentioned in the previous reply, the 06:22 departure is the easiest and quickest, but if you don't mind tolerating longer travel times and more changes, you could certainly leave Ravenna later in the day. The next easiest appears to be a departure at 09:33, arriving at 14:46. I was in both places in June, and IMO Ravenna is definitely worth a stop. The mosaics are incredible and if you're going to be in the area anyway, at least one night would be good. Cheers!
