Ravenna Port to Venice

Party of 9 will be cruising with Royal Caribbean and our last stop is Ravenna port. We are going to stay two nights in Venice before flying back home to US. I have been going crazy finding info online how to get to Venice from the port. I checked the train and they leave at 6 am! We can't do 6 am because we dock at 6 am. Can someone guide me on how and what's the best way to get to Venice?

Thank you,
Angie

There are many trains per day going from Ravenna to Venice. Did you check the Trenitalia website? You need to put in the Italian names of cities, and for Venice, choose the Venezia Santa Lucia station (Venezia Mestre is on the mainland). Also choose both the date and earliest time. Some of the trips involve changing trains in Bologna, others, in Ferrara.

Should add that the train schedules are updated every six months, and will change in mid-June, which may explain why you’re not seeing much. You can just search a date that’s sooner, in order to get a rough idea of what’s available. And, if you choose to change trains in Ferrara, both trains will be Regionale, so there’s no point to reserving in advance.

You are not alone trying to figure out transport. There are a variety of posts about that here. I do occasionally cruise, but it ticks me off when cruiselines list major draw cities as a port, but there are miles and difficult logistics involved. Ravenna (Venice) and Port Canaveral (Orlando) are 2 such listings. You will need to taxi into the town for the train station, then it is one or two trains to Venice. When booking flight home, be aware of how early they leave and consider staying at an airport hotel last night...if US flights are before 9 a.m.
Though not a perfect website by far, for initial logistical planning, look at Rome2rio to determine which train lines to look at for specific times and prices.
I do wonder, if given there are 9 of you, whether a hired prival shuttle would be beneficial.

Taxi to Ravenna station

There are trains every hour from Ravenna to Bologna or Ferrara
Change to train to Venezia S Lucia
Both fast and regional trains from Ferrara and Bologna
Ferrara is an easier transfer

Use the Trenitalia website or app
https://www.trenitalia.com/content/tcom/en.html

If your date is past June 11- just search same day of week before then
Schedules don’t change much if at all

Check with the cruise line. They should be able to tell you. Perhaps they also have arranged transport from Ravenna to Venice,
