I am headed to Ravenna for a night in mid-October and am having difficulty finding centrally-located, affordable lodging. Any ideas??
Have you tried venere.com? We were in Ravenna about four years ago and found a nice (if outdated) old hotel on a main street right next to the ruins of Theodoric's palace. Can't remember the name, but I know I found it on venere.com.
I have two suggestions (I've stayed at both): Hotel Centrale Byron on Via 4 Novembre (75 euro single) and Hotel Bizanzio, a Best Western hotel near the train station (about 125 euro); I prefer the Hotel Centrale Byron. Good buffet breakfast included.
You can also check out Casa Masoli. It's a great, affordable, family run hotel in the old town in a house which is more than 300 years old. The owner prepares the buffet breakfast with freshly baked cakes and cookies as well as meat, cheese, bread, etc. We highly recommend it. It is also recommended by RS. When we stayed there March 2011 it was the same price as Hotel Byron. You can check it out here: http://www.casamasoli.it/en/storia
I have stayed here - you can walk everywhere. If you are driving, there was street parking nearby. NH Ravenna, Piazza Mameli, 1. 48121 Ravenna
