Decided to shorten number of nights in both Sorrento and Naples and add a few nights stay in Ravello or Salerno. This wzy I don't have to plan tour to Amalfi from Sorrento. I can do thatbwhile staying on Amalfi. Which do you recommend, Ravello or Salerno to stay for a few nights? Thank you!

What time of year?
Salerno is delightful and you have options for ferry (seasonal) or bus. Lots of good restaurants, a real feel, a super fun passiegiatta every evening. Also the option of visiting the magnificent Greek temples in Pasteum.
Salerno will surely be much less expensive lodging than Ravello.
Ravello is also lovely but a bit dead in the evening and transportation not as easy. You'll be relying on a bus.

I had originally wanted to stay in Ravello - but I couldn't find a place within our budget, so we ended up in Salerno - a much better choice for us. I loved Ravello as part of a day trip to the Amalfi Coast, but too rich for my blood to spend the night.

If you are renting a car, Ravello would be okay but it is small and expensive. If using public transportation, I would suggest Amalfi since it’s a transportation hub - buses and ferries.
