Ravello and Amalfi vs. Sorrento and Positano from Pompeii

Hi
I am planning a day tour from Pompeii to Ravello and Amalfi, but I see they also offer a tour Pompeii to Sorrento and Positano. Can anyone please tell me the big differences? If I choose the tour to Ravello does it have nice views as I see it does not go up the coastline.. I will be there next month in May.
Thank you for any help

I assume you are not staying at Pompeii. Where are you staying ??

I love all four villages. But if you travel from Pompeii through the peninsula into Ravello and Amalfi, you miss the deliciously amazing coastal drive !

So, take the harrowing and gorgeous coastline views by going to Sorrento and Positano.

It sounds like you are talking about organized tours. You can also visit these places on your own. Are you coming on a cruise ship (if so, where exactly is it docking) or are you staying in one of these places and looking to visit others?

hi
Yes, we are coming by cruise ship and wanted to book an excursion for the day. I've heard about Positano and Sorrento, but nothing about Ravello or Amalfi. I am also doing a day excursion to Cinque Terre, I understand it closely resembles the coastline on Amalfi Coast.

Cinque Terre and the Amalfi Coast are totally different !

Google them for images (there are thousands) and read RS Italy or Lonely Planet books for information on each of the villages and each of the areas. Then you can determine which is of interest to YOU !

If you want stark beauty and shopping, I'd do Positano and Sorrento, the latter of which has maybe the best narrow-street-shopping-area of the bunch. And Positano is just drop-dead gorgeous. And, as the poster above said, you get the cliff road.

Never been to Ravello, but reports say it's up above Amalfi and thus maybe the best overall views of the 4 towns. Amalfi is beautiful with St. Andrew cathedral. And on that trip there's plenty of coastal driving as well.
