I'm planning to stay 3 nights in a smallish town where I would feel safe as a single woman, walking around in the evening. I'm considering staying at Hotel Metropole in S. Margherita partly because it looks like it would be nice to hang out on their sundeck in the evening and the town offers ferry access to Rapallo & Portofino, etc. Any comments would be appreciated. If you visit Santa Margherita check out Dal Baffo ristorante. It was recommended by Rick in his guidebook, and we had a wonderful lunch there. It's a couple of blocks off the street that runs along the harbor, a little hard to find, but well worth it. No tourists, all locals. Great seafood.
