This isn't question but just wanted to say we ran into Rick in Venice today in Campo San Barbanba! It was pretty exciting for us since we planned our last three Europe vacations around his books and videos and watch and read everything he puts out. It was kind of funny because we were in Cinque Terre last week and thought maybe we would see him there because he was there for a few days. It was a nice surprise on our last day in Venice. My only regret was we said hello but I had his Venice book in my camera bag and never thought to ask him to autograph it. Shucks!

Did he still have the new beard, or is he back to looking like the "Rick Steves brand" we all know? See Europe under Helpline if you don't know what I am talking about.....he has a beard in the May Travel News photos on this web site. I'll weigh in on it and say the beard made him look older.

We had a similar experience in Rome last year. Ran into him and his crew at breakfast without our camera or our RS book.

We ran into him last May at "his" favorite Rome restaurant--it was exciting and since I was never without my RS book, got the autograph and photo!! We are headed to Venice next month....

Tom, glad the beard is gone. How fun that you ran into him, though. I hope he posed w/ you for a photo :) We went to hear him speak at Vanderbilt University here in Nashville a month or two ago when he did his USA road trip. Got to say hello to him afterward, but he wasn't posing for photos (understandable, or he would have been there all night). Safe travels, and oh how I wish I were in Italy again....love it there :)

I saw him on the road trip too. In Salt Lake. He signed my Florence book. And he didn't pose for pictures there either but I took a few of him before his talk started.
