Rain, rain go away! What to do in/near Lucca in the rain?

Well sadly it hasn't stopped down pouring since we arrived. We attempted to walk around anyway for 30 mins last night and were soaked through and freezing. This is my Mom's first international trip and I don't want it spoiled by this awful weather. Suggestions? Last night we drank a lot of vino, but not feeling sitting in restaurants all day. We could train to somewhere less rainy, but doesn't seem to be any where not raining today. Help! :(

Sarah, Sorry to hear that you're having to deal with rain. That always tends to put a "damper" on holidays. I can very much appreciate your situation, as I also endured a severe rain storm when I was in Lucca last year. Unfortunately, weather reports for both Liguria and Rome show rain for Monday and Tuesday. Unless you have good rain gear, it looks like indoor activities are about the only option. The forecast here is also for rain the next few days, so I'll have to deal with it too. Good luck!

You can't control Mother Nature but you can control how you deal with it. Take the bus or train into Florence and visit a museum. There are over 70. The Bargello is interesting and no where near as crowded as the others. Dante's House, The Last Supper of Santa Croce, Silver Museum. Don't let some rain drops get you down.

Thanks - lucky it stopped raining. I've done Florence and didn't really want to go back. We had a lovely day in Lucca after the rain stopped. Thanks!
