Rain in Venice and Bellagio the next 8-10 days

We will be visiting these places from This Friday through next Thursday. Rain is forecast every day. Looking for ideas for things to do. We do have some scheduled activities but my guess is that a few of them will be cancelled. Any ideas and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Venice- Peggy Guggenheim Museum
Bellagio- after four trips there I can’t think of many indoor places to visit. Perhaps the church of San Giacomo at the top of town?

Venice in the rain? That to me sounds wonderful! Of course, the churches and museums are your best indoor choices. I really like the Accademia, the Frari and the Doge's Palace (there are a few museums combined together on some tickets).

As inspiration, I would draw from that song, "Rainy Night in Georgia" and offer (with slight modifications) my perspective on rain in Venice:

"A rainy night in [Venice]
A rainy night in [Venice]
I believe it's rainin' all over the world"

From my experience, it truly feels that way.

We were staying in Varenna two weeks ago and took the cooking class that RS recommends in his guidebook. They picked us up in Varenna around 10:00am and returned us around 4:00pm. And coincidentally, it was a windy, rainy day that actually hailed! We had great fun. If you don't want to come over to Varenna, perhaps there's a cooking class on your side of the lake. Safe travels!

I live in north Italy, worst May weather I can remember, sorry it will be bad for your holiday. But have also had unexpectedly rainy holidays elsewhere ..... waterproof shoes, umbrellas and waterproof jackets will help. It won't rain non-stop for the next week, there will also be just grey and cloudy or slight drizzle or sunny spells so get out and about as soon as there's a break in the weather. From Bellaggio you could visit Como?

Having the right rain gear really helps, so you can still do outdoor activities. It's obviously not ideal, but it sure does help. We had rain 3 weeks ago when we were in Slovenia, and windy weather in Lake Como. In Slovenia, we did the walking tours and visited the farmers markets in the rain; it really helped having our golf rain pants. Also, maybe use waterproofing spray on your shoes, and bring your best rain gear.

We did find that the weather forecasts were amazingly accurate , and that it never rained heavily all day. So if rain was predicted heavily in the morning hours, and we had an outdoor event, with a view, planned for the morning, we flipped our planned schedule, and used the hours rain was not predicted. As I said, the weather forecasts were pretty accurate.

In Lake Como, we took the ferry to Villa Balbianello in Lenno. The Villa tour was an hour, inside, and was very interesting, so I would recommend that. We took the speedboat back to the Lenno ferry harbor, from which we had great views for photos, and it was fun speeding over the lake. The ferry trip to Lenno passed some beautiful hotels and villas, so was a nice activity by itself.

Of course, Bellagio has major shopping, and we found some delightful shop keepers with whom to interact.

We did see folks bike riding in the rain, covered with ponchos. Wouldn't be my choice of activity, but I guess their attitude was that life continues in the rain.

Good luck, and I know this isn't ideal, and I hope you can use the clear weather you have to your advantage.
Safe travels!

Thanks for the detailed reply, All of these make me feel a little better about dealing with the rain in these great places.
