Rail from Venice to Zurich

I will be in Venice and going to Zurich. I have a rail pass for Italy but want to get to Zurich. What is the best way? I am leaving Italy in the AM and have a reservation for that nite in Zurich

Ed,

There are no direct trains from Venice to Zurich.

You will need to go from Venice -> Milan ( Milano Centrale) -> Zurich and it will be a very long day on the train ( almost 8 hours)

Check this website to get detailed info regarding different transportation options to get to your destination: http://www.rome2rio.com

Another thought... have you considered flying from Venice to Zurich?

If the ticket agent at Venice can't handle it, a ticket agent in Milan should be able to without problem. You would just need to pay for a ticket from Chiasso (or there abouts) to Zurich. There is a direct EC train every 2 hours from Milano Centrale at 25 past the even hours.

At the train station ticket window, show your rail pass and buy seat reservations for the Italian portion of the trip as well as tickets for the Swiss portion of the trip. Travel agencies in Venice can also handle tickets and reservations and may be closer to your sightseeing.
