"A View of Rome" B&B: TripAdvisor's #1-rated B&B in Rome

Hey everyone! So "A View of Rome" is ranked as the #1-rated B&B in Rome on Trip Advisor. Obviously I can read several dozen reviews of the place on TA, but I'm curious to know what the RS community has to say about the place, if anything. We'll be in Rome in mid-July, 2011. We're looking for a nice, clean place with a central location and reasonable prices (they've quoted us 130 Euro per night for a double room, which includes breakfast). Here's their website: A View of Rome Does anyone have any experience with them? Thanks! ~Geoff and Jennifer

It's not in the neighborhood I would pick, considering that it's NE of the Vatican. I find it kind of boring around there. But Rome is very compact, so with a little walking you would be in the interesting part. It would be perfect if you're planning to focus on the Vatican.

Geoff and Jennifer, I've had friends stay at this B&B and they enjoyed the experience. The location will be "quiet" at night, but it is quite easy to get to anywhere in town from Piazza Risogimento. The #81 bus starts (and ends) its run here so you can ride it all the way to the Colosseo! The #32 bus also starts here and will get you to the Olympic Stadium and the Ponte Milvio area. The trams will take you up to the Zoo and Villa Borghese. The A line Metro is about 400 meters away at Ottaviano station. The #492 bus will take you by Piazza Navona, Largo Argenina, down the Corso, and over to Piazza Barberini.... and it stops about 120 meters from the entrance to this B&B on Via Crescenzio Since I lived in this area for a few years I am a little bias, but we enjoyed this area. There are many great resturants (head AWAY from the Vatican), and its always an experience to shortcut through another country (the Vatican) on your way home. We often walked from the Via Candia area to Piazza Navona for dinner and then walked home - often after midnight - so the area is quite safe. Near Ottaviano station, you have a huge collection of Bancarelle; the Mercato Trionfale market is close; and the flower market, Mercato dei Fiori, is a short walk away! The Cola di Rienzo, one of the best shopping streets in Rome is just around the corner... and there is some of the best Gelato in town over on Via Gracchi!

As with any reviews on Tripadvisor, read them carefully to see what is meaningful to you, and also check the number of posts credited to the reviewer. I don't see anything suspect about the reviews for "A View of Rome"; some reviews from first-timers and many others from longer TA members. Our experience on our last trip is that most B&B owners will ask for a review on Tripadvisor, expecialy if they know that you enjoyed your stay. Getting your rating up to #1 means a huge increase in business. I pay attention to the reviews but I would not let great reviews trump a great location. But it sounds like rom in Rome approves, so that's a plus.

Hello, we were in Rome this past July and stayed at the Albergo del Senato, facing the Pantheon. The price was similar to the one you were quoted. Very clean, nice breakfast. It was worth the price and the location was great. Best of all - working air conditioning as it's quite hot that time of year. Plus, the windows were so snug you couldn't hear any noise. Have a great trip!
