Quiet/Clean Rome Hotels

I see many threads for "Rome Hotels" but none for "Quiet" or "Clean" which is what I'm looking for. Looking for something central, close to Victor Emmanuel Monument area if possible.

I booked with Otivm and Rome Life hotels already, but after digging a bit more and reading reviews I'd like to keep looking.

Traveling with a family of four. Any help appreciated.

Quiet has different means for different people. Anything in central Rome has the potential to be noisy just from the normal street traffic. All of the hotels we have used in Rome have been, in our opinion, quiet but maybe not for you. Generally rooms in back will be quieter than room in front. Victor E is pretty close to the center of touristy Rome with lots of traffic. As to clean???? I have no idea what you want in clean since we have never found a hotel that was dirty. All the hotels are clean. Keep in mind that you need to book a room for four and not just a room expecting to put four in the room.

The hotel we stayed at on our 2014 RS tour could have been cleaner, and was experiencing a major ant problem. I’d suggest you use trip advisor and search for “quiet” and “clean” in the reviews of any hotels you’re interested in. Although you can’t totally trust whether reviews on various sites are legit, I will often cross check reviews on trip advisor and booking.com and come up with a list of 15-20 places with good ratings on both which I then investigate further. I’ll search reviews for various key words and pay special attention to the most recent reviews. It seemed to me I definitely happened upon some reviews of Rome hotels recently that mentioned quiet. Once you’ve found a few potential places come back to this forum to see if anyone has stayed in them recently. Good luck!

I really like booking.com for research and I even book through them. The reviews seem to be mostly accurate.

Supposedly the reviews are from "real" guests who have "really" stayed in the lodging but of course it could be someone's brother in law who lives in another city and country and we would never know.

I have also gotten some good information from Trip Advisor forums.

Sometimes youtube will have reviews of hotels. Then you get to see the hotel which I like.

The quieter rooms of any hotel are usually the ones facing an inner courtyard or space. You might want to add a note in your reservation that this is the type of room you prefer.

The ones with views may come with street or restaurant noise, and the ones in the back can have noise from glass being thrown into recycle spots.

Thats for the feedback everyone.

I realize terms like quiet/clean can be subjective, but for quiet I was hoping to find a place that didn't have paper-thin walls, or parties all night long on the roof top. Staying in the centro so I expect there to be a bit of noise from the streets.

I read a bunch of reviews on booking.com and reject places for which reviews mention environmental noise. There's not a lot to be done about fellow guests who have loud conversations as they walk past your room at 1 AM or slam their doors, but more expensive hotels seem less likely to have super-thin walls.

Asking for a room with a view is likely to put you on the noisy side of a hotel, though I'm sure there are exceptions.

I concur with acraven and bostonphil: use Booking.com to at least search and read reviews. Then, if you like, contact the hotel directly to book and ask “please, may I have a quiet room?”

My stay at Hotel Smeraldo was quiet and clean. Any hotel will have room locations that are quieter than others and you can request a quiet room.

I fully understand why you are asking. Thin walls and bar noise is different than street noise! In 2015 we stayed at Argentina Style Hotel on the Largo di Torre Argentina not far from the Victor Emmanuel. Our room faced the inner courtyard so there was no street noise, but also no noise from within the hotel. Very clean and we found it to be an ideal location.

Corso 281 would be in your preferred area.
Rooms with pullout sofa or twins are advertised.
