quick train transfer in Roma Termini, can it be done?

Hello,
Trenitalia has a Frecciaigento train from Arezzo to Roma Termini with a connecting Frecciarossa train to Naples leaving 18 minutes later. It's on one ticket.
Is this manageable? And how do I find my connecting train? I know the train numbers. Both legs are nonstop. And I'll get to Naples from Arezzo in about 2:45 hrs. This will leave most of the afternoon and evening to enjoy my first day in Naples.
Any suggestions are most welcome.
Thank you,
Elaine

My reading of the schedule depart Arezzo at 8:34,arr Roma Termini 9:53, connecting to FR dep 10:18, arr Napoli Central 11:28.
So that is a 25 minute train change time which is very comfortable at Termini. Just check the train board when you arrive, just like you would at an airport, and proceed to the new track (Binari in Italian).

you have 3 minutes more than the minimum official transfer time at Termini. Get a coffee during those minutes.

How do you find a connecting flight? You look for a monitor called Departures. Same for trains.

Both legs are nonstop

I doubt there are no stop trains from a middle sized town like Arezzo to Rome, but the evil minds behind Trenitalia did even stranger things in the past. What's the Arezzo-Roma train code? It should stop at least at Chiusi and Tiburtina stations.

Arrezzo to Termini does stop at Tiburtina first. Sorry, using an analogy for the similarities between finding your new gate for an airport connection and finding your new Binari at a train station. Except at train stations, even Termini, the walking distances are a whole lot shorter. Look for the right train number, as there are several trains to Napoli in the 10 to 11 time period.

Hello,
Thank you all for your responses.
I am looking at a 8:43am train frecciaigento # 8551 nonstop (so they say) to Roma Termini arriving at 9:53,
Roma Termini 10:18 Frecciarossa #9611 arriving Naples 11:28.

So look for the "new" track - thank you that is helpful!

I was kinda rounding off 9:53 to 10am as, I figure it'll take me 7 minutes to get off the train and look at the board.

I wish I could view your responses when I add my replies... am I missing something?

It is not easy to find out the intermediate stops of your train. I don't think it matters too much either: there are announcements on board most trains, and big station name boards on platforms.
If you really want to know, check out... The German railways website, DB. Enter your departure and arrival points, your date, your approximate time, search, pick the train you'll take, click "show details", and you'll have details. You might need to click on the train number or something similar.

On the Trenitalia site, to find out stops, hit the info button bottom right hand corner, then more info.

FA8551 does in fact leave Arezzo (one "r", two "z") at 8:34 having arrived two minutes earlier. If you are looking for it at 8:43 (probably a typo but my brain would mix up those two times) it will have gone. It calls at Tiburtina, but only at Tiburtina (at 9:41) on its way to finish its journey at Roma Termini at 9:53. It will have started its day in Mantova at 6:00, calling at Carpi, Modena, Bologna Centrale and Firenze (Florence) SMN before Arezzo.

FR9609 (Frecciarossa, the fastest trains) starts in Turin (Torino Porta Nuova) at 5:50, calling at the other Turin station and then two Milan stations before it arrives at Roma Tiburtina at 9:56, leaving at 9:58 and then arriving at Roma Termini at 10:07 and departing at 10:18 as you expect. It then does run straight to Napoli Centrale at 11:28, not calling at any other station before Naples, and it terminates at Napoli Centrale.

Torino Porta Nuova dep 05:50

Torino Porta Susa dep 06:00

Milano Centrale arr 06:50 dep 07:00

Milano Rogoredo arr 07:07 dep 07:09

Roma Tiburtina arr 09:56 dep 09:58

Roma Termini arr 10:07 dep 10:18

Napoli Centrale arr 11:28

Yes Nigel, you are right. After I asked the question I did find the stops on the site and yes it was a typing error - luckily I caught it.
Thank you all very much.
I've never traveled outside the US alone, so I'm super excited and have O so many questions. Thank you all for patiently answering my questions.

Since you're new to European trains, you should spend some time on the website of rail guru The Man In Seat 61.

Start with his introduction to European trains: https://www.seat61.com/Europe-train-travel.htm

and to Italian trains: https://www.seat61.com/Italy-trains.htm

When you arrive at Roma Termini, head down the platform to the front of the train (just follow everyone else). There, find a departures monitor (make sure it's not an arrivals monitor). Confirm your train and its track, and head to that track. That's all - no security or barriers to pass through.

When you are nearing Rome, get your things together and stand near the door so you are ready to get off. Do not wait for the train to stop before you prepare to deboard. This is wise on any train as they do not stay in the station for long.
