Quick stop between Venice and Siena Drive

We are driving from Venice to Siena on a Friday and were thinking of stopping on the way for an hour or two if there is a town/attraction that's convenient and worthwhile enough to visit. Any suggestions?

Florence was an option, but it may be not worth stopping for a few hours especially since we will head back up there for a day later in our trip. However, we are considering Bologna if it's worth stopping only for a few hours.
Thanks!

Ferrari museum in Maranello near Modena, west of Bologna?

Keep in mind with most town's center pedestrian only, quick stops take a little longer in Italy than say the United States.

Verona is a great stop, would be a little longer route but not too far out of your way.
If you were to head by way of Modena, the same way would take you to Verona before Venice.
Easy on and off highway parking away from ZTL zones and the historic downtown is small and excellent walking area.

In a few hours you could see the outside of the Colleseum there as well as Juliet's balcony. Really cool bridge nearby too if you have time. All an easy stroll from the parking lots, good shopping and food options also along the walking route.

For a quick bite to eat, try Paninoteca Mordimi ; great sandwiches and fast !!!

Bologna being much larger may not be that easy to visit quickly via car, though I do not know.

Padua is another thought.

Good proposition above.
Padua for the scrovegni chapel especially(reserve before), the center is nice
Bologna is also nice, even for a couple of hours. Easy to park at parking piazza VIII agosto just outside city center, and then an 8 minutes walk.

Ferrara would be my choice. Easy to park and walk into town. Great for a coffee and pastry break if you don't have time for lunch. The Castello and Duomo are within very easy walking distance of each other.
