Quick question for a quick answer - how long to put aside for OTZI museum?

Hi, how long should I plan for us to see the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology? I may want to read everything (in English, if anything) but I'll also have two kids (6 and 10). Safe to assume 2 hours is more than adequate?

Many thanks!

There's plenty of explanatory material in English. It's not my sort of museum (I'm all about the pretty stuff), but it is extremely well done. Especially given that you have two youngish children, 2 hours should be adequate. I think they'll find it very interesting--there were lots of children among the visitors the day I was there in the summer of 2015--but 2 hours is a rather long time at their ages. Do poke around online to be sure there's not a timing issue with the tickets unless you have a very current guidebook that covers Bolzano. I had a pass that got me into a lot of sights in the area, so the fact that I didn't do anything special to get into the museum doesn't mean much. It's obviously a very popular place, though there was no excessive crowding.

Bolzano, incidentally, has a very pretty, very colorful historic district, which is on the walking route from the train station to the museum. It would be a good place to grab lunch or an early dinner.

Melissa two hours is enough , even 1.5 , it's a great museum and when I was in a RS Family tour we stopped there , we had 14 kids between 7-17 and they all enjoyed it too! My 11 yr old thought it was very interesting and was very excited two years later when her teacher mentioned Otzi and she was able to say she had seen him !

There is lots of English , so no worries , however it's not a huge museum so I think even 1.5 hours would be enough .

Note you may not being any bags inside museum, we out all our purses in a locked box ( for your groups ) but i assume they have a locker
