Quick overnight in Venice

I have a group of 6 adults (2 men, 4 women) who will have an afternoon in Venice, arriving on the ferry from Croatia about 11 am, then departing from the airport the following morning. What would be the most convenient location for us to be able to experience Venice (ideally within easy walking distance from San Marco Piazza), but also make our connections? We are open to a variety of accommodations - hotel, apartment, bnb, but probably not a dorm-like hostel. Budget is no more than 400 euros for the night.

Somewhere near the train station/piazzelle roma. You are on the island of Venice and have the canals and atmosphere of the city right outside your door, you can easily walk or get a vaporetto to famous sights like San Marco, but you are close to the airport bus for the morning. You catch the bus in piazzele Roma, which is one bridge (or vaporetto stop if you prefer) from the train station.

Hotels can be expensive. You’d need 3 rooms, or a quad and 2 doubles which is $$. I think apartments would be more affordable, but check into both to see. I’d look at booking.com and Airbnb and see what shows up. Look by map at that area and filter by price.

You don’t say when your trip is You might check out one of the convent/monastery accommodations. We used www.monasterystays.com to book ours. Most rooms are with single beds and triple and quad rooms are common.

"Quick overnight in Venice" seems like a tragedy of epic proportions. I recommend you not sleep at all. Sit up all night in San Marco and watch the sunrise. :)
