Is there a cute hilltop town that’s easy to get to from Rome, direct? Just want a simple getaway for the day with not too much moving around.

Very charming Umbrian hill town with an amazing Duomo and plenty of things to do

I really enjoyed the Orvieto Underground Tour and eating pasta arrabiata at Trattoria La Grotta. Excellent gelateria next to the Duomo and lots of beautiful ceramic shops. Plus hiking and interesting Etruscan museum. 90 minutes from Rome.

I'd opt for Orvieto, too. But ... I'd suggest making it any overnighter so you get the whole Orvieto expereince.
