I have a quick (9minute) connection in Pisa this week. My ticket needs to be stamped in Pisa. Are there machines on the platform for this?
Does it need to be stamped? I thought that the need to stamp tickets had gone.
What is your route? And where did you buy your ticket?
Recently in Italy I had a paper ticket for a regional train that had to be stamped but the machines were for a different style ticket and wouldn't work with my ticket. I asked a worker at the station and he confirmed the ticket machine wouldn't work for my ticket but that I should write the destination, date, and time on the back of the ticket to "validate" it. When the conductor came through, he looked at the back of the ticket, gave a little nod, and moved on.
WengenK, paper tickets for regionale trains still have to be manually time-stamped (validated) before boarding. E-tickets for regionale trains have to be checked in online. IMHO, It's sort of a hairball.
Ruth, did you buy a paper ticket in advance for your train from Pisa to your next destination?
