Questions re Itinerary for Lake Como

We have six nights in the Lake Como/Venice area in October before taking a cruise from Venice. After spending a couple of nights in Varenna, I booked two nights in Bergamo and two nights in Venice. I am now wondering if two nights in Bergamo is too much and instead we should spend two nights in Ravenna or Verona to get a different perspective on Northern Italy. What do you think? Thanks a lot!

Up to you of course, but for me I'd spend a couple of nights or three on Lake Como - I like it very much, but I do wonder how much will be happening in October - and the rest of the time in Venice.

Have you done everything you want to do in Venice?

When you stay 2 nights somewhere you only get one full day to look around, and you lose at least half a day moving from one place to another.

How much time have you spent in Northern Italy previously?

Each of those destinations offers "a different perspective." I only spent one night in Bergamo, but another night would have been fine. If you want flexibility in Varenna, you always have the option of leaving there on a late train, so you stay the two nights in Bergamo but really just the one full day. The train ride is only 1 hr 15 min.

I could always spend more time in Venice. Will your cruise return to the same city for a second visit?
