Questions about visiting some museums in Florence

We purchased tickets to the Galleria dell’Accademia, Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore/Duomo, and the Uffizi Gallery with assigned times.

Will we stand in line with our tickets with assigned start times? Or will we be able to enter at the assigned time?

Thank you

Arrive a bit before your assigned time, get in line and enter when they let you
Nobody can predict how many others have same time slot

In general if you show up before your assigned time you will stand with your group and then will be allowed in at the designated time, then go through the security line and enter the sight. This is especially true at the Accademia which has multiple roped off lines for every time and it runs like clockwork.

It can be a strategy to so up five or ten minutes after your start time and try to skip some standing around but you can't skip the security line which is most the wait since the entry to show and/or scan your ticket takes only a few seconds a person. I think most people are more worried about missing it so they end up 15 minutes early to make sure and then just stand with their group.

I know previously (2022) if you purchased some tickets like the PassePartout ticket you had to redeem it in person at the ticket office before going into the Uffizi but I think that may have done away with that step and gone with scannable tickets.

Keep in mind that these places handle these crowds everyday and they have it down. Signage is usually pretty good if you keep your eyes open and there are also generally people managing the lines and pre-checking that people are in the right line for their tickets to speed entry.

Enjoy Florence,

Sorry to be the 'negative' response but . . . I was there in April 2024. I've been to the Accademia many times but my young friends were on their first visit to Italy. We got to the Galleria plenty early even though we had time specific entry tickets. At that time they announced that entries were delayed by 2 1/2 hours. Oh well, there's another David that's free and crowd-free to see.

Uffizi and Accademia have you line up in groups by the time slot. Uffizi actually had the time on placards. I think Accademia just said the time. (This was a few months ago). Going back with another friend so hopefully its the same

Not to discredit Robert's experience at all but I've not seen a report of a timed-entry delay like that any time in recent history. My guess is that the unfortunate delay was because of some unforeseen problem with the museum staff (A last-minute shortage?) or structure (A utility failure of some sort?) or other unplanned complication.

I did see some confusion, in TA reviews for the past year, around which entry line to stand in but while nothing is 100% sure, having to stand in a long line with a timed-entry ticket is very likely not going to happen. Don't worry.
