Can anyone recommend where to park and leave my rental car while visiting Siena for two days / one night. I carry only a backpack, so walking to the tourist areas or walking to the hotel is not a problem. Rick Steves suggests three free-parking areas: 1) west of the Fortezza, 2) behind Hotel Villa Liberty, 3) behind the Fortezza; and two pay-parking areas: 1) Fortezza, 2) Stadio (Stadium). Is one of these locations any better than the others, especially if I am arriving from Florence, and departing to Orvieto? Thanks for any help.

Remember that Wed. is market day and the vendors set up by the fortezza.
We were in Siena for 4 days in October and parked on the street across from the Fortezza and in front of the Villa Liberty....no problem. When you are driving there follow the signs to the Soccer Stadium.....I believe a picture of a soccer ball is on the overhead street sign and it should lead you to the street. Any spot that has white lines is free and watch the signs for street-sweeping which I think was Saturday am. From this area it is only a 10 minute walk to the Campo.
Thanks for the information. From Rick Steves' guidebook, I know where his recommended parking lots are located, but I'm curious if one of the five lots is any better than the others, in terms of convenience to the highway, proximity to tourist areas, size of lot, security, etc. Thanks again for any help.
