question / family member WWII Pix going back 70 years later

This is an unusual question but I am visiting in April on a RS tour, and don't know if this idea I have might offend anyone.. so what do you all think ? My father-in-law was in WWII ,5 major battles (only positive of Anzio and Po Valley plus N. Africa but they did land near Naples ) . He loved to talk about the Italian food, how the people were so nice to him.. They kept feeding him , "saying eat , eat " your too thin! He also thought the Italian women were beautiful !

So I am thinking of making a tee shirt or top imprinted with a small WWII pix and a small paragraph just something to honor him. Nothing tacky or over the top.. What do you think ? I am at least going to bring his photo to put up in the room .. after all it's over 70 years ago and I think he would like to go back for a visit..

Sounds like a great way to spark conversations. Everybody likes talking to older people, and you never know what you'll learn. It reminded me of this story, toward the bottom headed, "Tu, Buffalo?". http://www.apathtolunch.com/2011/11/faces-of-92nd-in-italy.html

PS Do some research about WWII sites to see. It's hard to find reminders of the war except as memorials and cemeteries.

Can you find out what units he was in? There might be memorials specific to them in some of those places.

I have a section of our Hopkins Album , "genealogy " at lot on Italy's WWII history. Paul was in the 1st Armored Division " Old Ironsides " , on a tank retriever so he also repaired them during the battles. Stan, I was thinking of maybe taking a day trip to Anzio.

Thank you for your replies.
