Question About Use of Transit Passes on FL Lines

Hi all! I posted a question similar to this before, and dear Quirite answered it for me (thanks!), however, I am a still sadly confused.

We are staying near Villa Bonneli which is in metropolitan Rome transit area, with easy access to the FL1 line, I was told that my CIS weekly pass will cover all rides on that line going toward the center (and a certain distance toward the airport but not beyond the urban boundary). I am assuming that is what this means:
"within the territory of the City of Rome:
- On buses, trams and trolleybuses;
- On Cotral buses (urban);
- On the subway lines - the regional railways Trenitalia 2nd class only, Rome-Lido, Rome-Giardinetti and Roma-Viterbo (urban)."

Regional Railways Trenitalia = FL lines? How can I tell which is 2nd class seating?

Now, due to our itinerary and some day trips planned (long story), we thought the Roma Pass would be a better option. However, I read this on the site:
"All special connections tpl Atac, the railway lines Trenitalia FR, the connection Tiburtina/Termini/Fiumicino Airport, the connection Trenitalia “No stop” Roma Termini-Fiumicino Airport (Leonardo Express) and all connections to and from Fiumicino and Ciampino Airports are not included."

Is FR the same as FL? Am I correct in thinking that while hourly, daily, weekly and monthly passes are accepted on the FL lines, the Roma Pass is not?

Quirite to save the day again!! Thank you! It all makes sense ...for now. And don't worry I will be sure to bring monies to Rome. I should be easy to spot: the girl holding up the line at a tabacchi still trying to figure out which ticket I need :)
