We will be arriving in Rome on Saturday 4/30 late afternoon. I'm trying to plan our transfer into the city. Our hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Termini Station. I understand that the Leonardo Express takes about 35 minutes and costs approximately 32 e. A Commune di Roma cab is 50 e and I'm seeing ads for booking a private driver for about the same price. I'm looking for advice about 1. whether it is worth it to take a cab for not a huge price difference, given that we will be jet lagged and 2. Is there any advantage to hiring a private driver in advance of leaving? I appreciate your expert advice. I've been lurking for months and hope to leave a trip report once we get back to "pay it forward."
We just take a cab
Easy 50 euros
Walk outside to the taxi line, don’t go with anyone “offering” a taxi
Have you hotel address on a paper/card and hand it to the driver
Agree with ChristineH. Cab is easy and not that much more expensive, especially considering it eliminates another leg by metro or bus and/or a walk with luggage.
We'll be a group of 5 adults, so I'm a bit concerned about us all fitting into a cab with our luggage. Do any of the drivers use larger vehicles?
I just booked a Romecab transfer from FCO to our hotel. There are 7 of us with luggage and it’s only costing us 70 euro.
OP here, thanks for the advice. We'll take a cab.
I just booked a car service through our hotel and it's 55 euros but they told us we have to pay the driver in cash. We thought that was excellent.
I agree with the last post. The 50 euros is worth the peace of mind of stepping off your airplane and getting to your hotel asap in your jet lagged condition. I’ve taken that ‘express’ train from FCO and found it all a big hassle.
