Question about Manarola Residence/Guest Card and Via Dell' Amore supplement

Hello,

We are staying in Manarola this May for 3 nights. I received the discount code from our CETS certified hotel. When I entered the code to purchase our tickets, it was accepted, and the purchase has gone smoothly. We purchased the Train Card Plus that includes Via dell' Amore. We got the discounted price, so 8 euros instead of 10 euros. I have the tickets.

My question is that we did not actually receive a Residence/Guest Card. Our hotel told me that at check in, we will receive a QR code to prove that we are staying in Manarola. Is this QR code the Residence/Guest Card?

Also, when I purchased our CT Treno MS cards with VDA supplement, I had to select a time for the VDA. However, the Residence/Guest Card allows us to enter the VDA any time during its opening hours, and we can start the walk from Manarola. So, why did I have to select an entry time for the VDA? This is confusing.

Thank you!

Karen

Karen, the reservation may just be a formality:

https://www.viadellamore.info/en/faq

"Is a reservation always necessary for those who have the Tourist Card (Riomaggiore Guest Card)?
The tourist in possession of the Tourist Card (Riomaggiore Guest card) must necessarily proceed with the purchase of the (discounted) entrance to the Via dell'amore with reservation; however, access is always permitted in both directions and outside the booking time slot for the entire duration of your stay.

Entitlement to access will be verified by checking the identity document and correspondence with the name shown on the Cinque Terre Card and on the resident tourist card."

While the above may specify a Riomaggiore Guest Card, the info may apply to all guest cards regardless of where one is staying. But that's just a guess. If in further doubt, you could write the park?

Kathy, thank you so much for your reply and for the link. I did a lot of research but somehow I missed the information you included. It sounds like you are right in that the reservation may just be a formality.

I did read on one of the sites that the Riomaggiore Guest Card includes Manarola because Manarola is in the municipality of Riomaggiore.
