it turns out we will be in Alta Badia for a stage of the Giro d Italia ( not planned that way) it will be our last day there and need to drive to Austria. does anyone have any experience on how they close off the road/s and for how long. ie: how much does it affect the roads? our accommodation is booked for all days.
we have watched the tour de france on TV many times.
In our area on two occasions when the Giro has passed by, the actual route used was closed for about 90 minutes and the closure was total. The nearby roads were not affected, and traffic before and after quickly recovered. In the days preceding, the schedule to the minute was available in the news, so your hotel should be able to advise you. I don't know about the character of disruption within towns where a stage stops / begins.
thanks Mike, exactly what I wanted to know. sounds good.
