question about documents

Hi world travelers, we will be visiting for 2 weeks in September and would like to know if a copy of our birth certificates and prescriptions are necessary---we have up to date passports, and our medications are nothing special-----thanks Greg

I can't see a reason why anyone would be interested in your birth certificates.

No reason for birth certificates. Prescriptions only if you are paranoid about losing your meds and needing new ones. I have never been questioned at Customs about any off my many meds. Its is pretty much a given that anyone over 50 is traveling with their meds.

You might make copies off you passport ID page and store that in your luggage, or better yet, scan it and email it to yourself. That will make getting a new passport easier if you do lose yours.

thanks for the responses, there seems to be a lot of unnecessary information available nothing like asking actual travelers--you will probably be hearing from me again as our trip gets nearer Greg

I always email myself copies of passport, any CC or debit card I am carrying (both sides), my drivers license and any other card that is traveling with me. I also print off a paper copy to stash away. Came in handy one year when I thought I lost my Italian passport and was able to hand over a paper copy to the police to report. It did turn up thankfully...but will still continue to take these simple precautions. Enjoy!

It may be overkill but I travel with spare passport photos as well as photos of the passport and credit cards.
