QUARTIERE COPPEDÈ - Rome

Has anyone explored the QUARTIERE COPPEDÈ in Rome? I just read something that described it as an area for "quiet, architectural exploration". Sounds lovely!

I'm still enjoying looking at options for an "off the beaten track" morning of sight-seeing before our Borghese gallery tour at 3:00. Thanks to all who replied to my questions about the Aventine. This QUARTIERE COPPEDÈ area looks like a good option too considering it is walking distance to the Borghese Gallery.

Would love to hear your thought about this area. Thanks in advance!

Yes! It is easily explored and quite unique. You might benefit from the info at Rome the Second Time, an architectural blog. http://romethesecondtime.blogspot.com/2010/03/rst-top-40-20-strange-world-of-coppede.html

You can take a tram to Villa Borgheae that will drop you off at the gate by the zoo, or it might be easier to walk. Lots of truly local shops along Viale Regina Margherita.

There is a cafe at Piazza Buenos Aires that we frequented called Ristorante Sisto. Self-service but good coffee, pastries, etc. Very nice people . You will see few (or no) tourists in this area!

Thanks, Laurel! That is fantastic information. I love how the writer says it would be delightful to come across it by chance...
