Purchasing tickets on Trenitalia.com

Hi to my 'support group'!

I've been trying for a long time to book tickets on the Trenitalia site from Milan to Venice and once I get everything entered, it requires me to register for the site. When I try to do that, it requires me to have an Italy address to have my card delivered. Can't find a way around it so have been unable to get these illusive tickets. Any tricks to make this work? Is it of any use to try to call them and do it live with an operator?

You can make up an address, they will not mail your tickets. You will get an e-ticket via email or text message. Don't know what card you are referring to, but there is no membership or registration card.

But it should be a valid Italian address. Some have suggested using the street address of FS:
Piazza della Croce Rossa,
1-00161 Rome

Thanks, all!

I went to www.italiadeals.com and got the tickets for basically the same price and with no hassle. It was too hard to make the other site work and rail europe charges alot per ticket for 'shipping and handling' or whatever. Got the tickets! :-)

Thanks for letting us know about Italiadeals. I had the same problems as you when ordering tickets for trains online.

Hi Shirley,

I spent hours, days, maybe even weeks trying to book tickets on Trenitalia! I really wanted to choose my seats, which the other sites wouldn't let me do. I finally was able to get it done as an unregistered user. After you choose your departure and arrival locations and your fare (first or second class), you will be able to pick your seats. You will get an option to choose to be an unregistered user, then a screen with spaces to provide your name, surname, email, and contact number for your travels. These blanks continue with spaces to provide corporate ID, loyalty code, points, and discount/promo code. Since I didn't have corporate ID, loyalty code, or discount/promo code I left these spaces blank. The unclear solution is to fill out the info you do have and then click on enter on the right side of the screen. Presto! It went through and I was able to make payment with credit card; I immediately received the tickets by email. I hope this works for you!
