Purchasing tickets for the main attraction.

Going to Rome in mid April and needing assistance on whether I should book tickets once there or prior to leaving Canada ? Main attraction is to see the Colosseum( including the underground prison tour), Roman Forum , and the Patatino. I understand I can get one ticket to cover them all. How should I purchase it and from whom ?

Yes, you should purchase tickets as soon as they become available:
This is the website:
https://www.coopculture.it/en/index.html

The tours that include the underground are SO difficult to get - they sell out within minutes of becoming available - that I'd advise you to choose any other ticket that does NOT include it. You can see down into some of it from above.

General Entry Ticket:
Does not include a tour or access to the underground or arena. Includes entry to the Palatine and Forum.

Colosseum By Night:
includes tour of the underground and arena but no entrance to the Palatine and Forum:

Colosseum with an Archeologist.
Includes tour of the Colosseum (no underground) + entry to the Palatine and Forum (no tour).

Audiovideo guide of the Colosseum
Includes entry to the Colosseum, audioguide for the Colosseum (no underground or arena access) and entry to the Palatine + Forum (no tour).

Full experience ticket with access to the arena
No underground; no tour. Includes entry to the Colosseum, arena, Palatine and Forum + S.U.P.E.R. sites open on your day of visit.

Full Experience Ticket with Access to the Arena and Underground.
Includes entrance to the Colosseum including arena and accompanied visit to the underground (not a tour). Also includes entrance to the Palatine, Forum and their S.U.P.E,R sites which are open on your day of visit.

Lastly, this is THE most difficult ticket to get:
Wonders of the Colosseum
Includes entrance to the Colosseum, a tour of the structure including the underground and arena, entrance to the Palatine and Forum (no tour) and S.U.P.E.R sites open on your day of visit.

We got a Full Experience ticket in 2022. It gives troy two days to see those sights. Don’t underestimate the Palatine Hill, including the museum up near the top, which the Full Experience ticket includes, but not every pass does, and many people miss.

Our strategy on two different trips to Rome was to enter the Palatine/Forum complex at the Palatine gate, tour the Palatine Hill (including that museum and the remains of the huge palace, plus the overlook of the Circus Maximus), then enter the Roman Forum from the Palatine side. The Rick Steves guidebook gives all the details.

With two days, see the Colosseum on Day 1, and also visit the nearby San Clemente basilica. If you like archaeological history, it’s got layer upon layer of history - prepurchase your entry for the archaeological parts before you arrive, at https://basilicasanclemente.com/eng/ .

Day 2, start at Palatine Hill then continue into the Roman Forum.

As a secondary attraction, are you considering taking the Eating Europe food tour of the Testaccio neighborhood? It takes you to iconic places for tastings in Rome’s Foodiest area, and finishes with lunch. It would be Most Excellent!

Your latest post states that your trip is April 2025??
Much could change between now and then, including the fact that the Colosseum is supposed to have a different ticket vendor between now and then,

If your trip is truly over a year from now, it's really too early for solid answers to questions about ticketing for the biggest attractions.

All of the links given either give a "404 page not found" message or take you to the general "Buy a ticket" page on Coop Culture on which the Colosseum cannot be found.... The link that takes you to the "COLOSSEUM, ROMAN FORUM AND PALATINE - FULL EXPERIENCE" page works but then there is no button to add a ticket to your cart which is shown as being empty....
