Purchase sundries in Florence and Rome

We’ve so much enjoyed 4 nights here in Bellagio! Now we head to Florence for 3 nights before arrival in Rome Sat 10/19 to start our 7 day RS tour. Any ideas on a basic “department type /sundries” store (perhaps a chain) in Florence (hotel in Oltrano area) and Rome (Hotel Lancelot/Colosseum) where we could pick up a couple things we’d like to have soon (duffle bag, ziplock type plastic bags, feminine hygiene products)? Similar to Target in U S. Thanks in advance. BTW, happy to answer any questions about Bellagio if you’re looking for the latest info. Flowers blooming everywhere here, absolutely loved our Hotel Florence (RS recommended), food beyond good!

Look on Google maps for Tigota stores in both cities, they have all the things you are looking for except the duffle bag.

The bigger grocery stores also carry all the toiletries and other things.
As do the small ones, with less variety.
They are also fascinating to look through at all the wonderful products we don’t see at home.
I’m just back from Florence, and bought a small duffle/softsided bag in the big open market at San Lorenzo in Florence, down one of the side streets of vendors.
I needed it for things I had bought on my trip.
It was only E15 and cheaply made in the PRC, but made it back home with my dirty laundry, through two long flights with no problem.
Most of the small neighbourhood street markets you come across usually have a stall selling a variety of inexpensive travel-type bags.

If you could elaborate a bit on “… at San Lorenzo in Florence, down one of the side streets of vendors.” ….is San Lorenzo a neighborhood in Florence? Trying to locate on map, presuming this is permanent open market. Thanks for the tips!

Florence…San Lorenzo Market…permanent open market
The market is actually comprised of two separate markets…an indoor market, known at the Mercato Centrale, or Central Market, home to all things food…and the outdoor section that lines the surrounding streets of the large Mercato Centrale building, selling leather, clothing and many souvenirs.
The Mercato Centrale in Florence is located between via dell'Ariento, via Sant'Antonino, via Panicale and Piazza del Mercato Centrale.
