As I'm planning out trip to Sicily, I am reading about the puppet show in Siracusa. It sounds fascinating. Has anyone attended a performance? Are they only in Italian or are they also performed in English? Thanks!
Three years ago I went to the puppet show at the Teatro dei Pupi on Via della Giudecca in Ortigia. I enjoyed it very much and have often suggested to others to try to make time to see one of the performances while there. So very Sicilian. The theater is very small. The performance was in Italian. You will get the gist of what is happening. Battles between knights, a damsel in distress. It was fun. Go for it!
My wife and I were in Siracusa/Ortigia on the RS Sicily tour in October. The puppet show was on trip's agenda. It was fun. We had the little theater to ourselves. The show had an English-speaking host who explained enough of the story to follow along. After the show, she introduced the puppeteers and we got to meet the puppets. If you have the time, it's worth the visit.
Thanks to you both.
