Good morning:
I will travel to Puglia on May 19, for a two week total immersion Italian language learning experience at a school in Alberobello. Those two weeks are settled and include transportation and lodging.
We will arrive in Bari three days prior and are trying to decide where we should base ourselves prior to going to Alberobello for school. We do not plan to rent a car at this point.
We thought about basing on the coast in the Polignano di Mare area to enjoy the coast but also want to see the area north of Bari since the school activities include everything from Alberobello well into the south of Puglia.
Given that we don’t plan to have a car, can you recommend best transportation options for exploring north of the Bari area and what sights or activities you have found interesting in that area.
Any advice on actual lodging accommodations and restaurants would also be greatly appreciated! On my last trip we found restaurants only recommended by this group in non touristy areas of Rome and Tuscany and they were all excellent! The two weeks at school allow us freedom in our dining experiences in Alberobello and travels into Lecce, etc.
Thanks!
