Hello. I am in the process of booking a villa for 8 near the town of Matera in Puglia. Two small children. Keen to have a couple of days at the beach whilst we are there - which are the nearest most suitable ones - must be accessible and sandy. Thank you. Any recommendations gratefully received.
Hi jvevans123, look at Marina di Ginosa, on the coast southeast of Matera, about 20 miles away.
And this is a technicality, but Matera isn’t in Puglia. It’s just inside the border of Basilicata. Have a great trip!
Near Matera there's Gravina in Puglia which is worth a visit, especially for James Bond fans. In the movie 'No Time to Die' he jumps off the famous Acquedotto bridge among other scenes filmed there.
Thank you. So my villa is actually in Martano not Matera. I misread the details!! Back to the drawing board as Martano is too far from Bari airport which is where we have to fly to.
I would recommend Baia dei Turchi, just north of Otranto. I parked in Parcheggio Schito (can easily find on Google Maps), was 5 euro and a short walk to the beach. You can bring your own towels and umbrellas or they have for rent but would recommend arriving early as they sell out. There's also a small trailer selling sandwiches, coconuts, etc.
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
