Two couples are traveling from Cisternino, Puglia to Rome. We have two nights and don't know shich route to go or where to stay. We will leave on Sept. 8. Do we keep the rental car and drive to Rome or leave the car and take a train somewhere? We will have been in Puglia for a week after leaving Amalfi Coast. Our trip originated in Rome where we stayed for 3 nights before going to Amalfi and will stay an additional night before our departure to USA.

Head to Matera...it's interesting, stay in the old town. Or if you haven't, visit Alberbello. Both are close...Matera about 40-50 miles. We just rode our bike from Matera to Alberello...our route was 45 miles. The drive through Basilicata is beautiful, and different from the Puglia region - should you decide to head to Matera that is.

We will be staying very close to Alberobello so we will be able to visit there during the week. Matera was on our list of maybe's. I think we will go there. Any suggestions on where to stay? Typically we enjoy B & B. Also, should we drive or can we take public transport? Our final destination is Rome.
