My boyfriend and I are visiting to Puglia from Oct. 30 - Nov. 3. This is my first time in Italy and I’m so excited to explore the region. We are flying from Rome into Brindisi and will be staying in Lecce Oct. 30 - Nov. 1. We haven’t determined we’re our second stay or “base” will be yet, but know we want to fly from Bari to Florence either the evening of 11/3 or early morning on 11/4. After we leave Lecce on the 1st I was thinking we could drive to Matera and then drive to our second stay, but would love any recommendations on where to stay/make our second mini home base or things to do? I recognize that Nov. 1 is All Saints Day, so not quite sure how that will impact our plans. Would also love to know how the water/climate that time of year in terms of swimming or just lying out on the beach? Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for such a thoughtful reply. I will certainly heed all your advice.
I have not booked the flight yet, but figured it would be easier to fly out on Tuesday evening. This would give us time to explore during the day, return our car and catch our flight. It also gives us the next day fully to explore Florence. We have not booked out returning flights to home yet, but plan to fly back on Nov. 6 or 7. This would give us ~3-4 days in Florence and surrounding areas.
