Puglia Itinerary

We are planning our fourth trip to Italy! We would like to concentrate on southern Italy this time, using trains as our primary transportation. ( We have rented a car in the past, but are too old and nervous to do so this time.) I had planned my entire itinerary and then found out or read somewhere that the FSE trains are no longer running, or have been replaced by less frequent buses? Is this true? I would like to travel from Sorrento to Matera, stay one night, and then go on to Martina Franca, which I will use as my base for Alberobello and Locorotondo as well. I had planned to stay in Martina Franca for 2 nights. From Martina Franca, I will travel on to Lecce and stay one night before making my way up to Lanciano in Abruzzo. Do the trains (or buses) run frequently enough to do this, or should I allow extra time? Any suggestions as to how to make this itinerary a reality? ( I must say - my friends on this forum have helped me with all of my other trips, and I am very grateful to you!)
