There’s not much information on this area of Rome, so I bought a map for Trastevere yesterday. Now I’m trying to figure out which are one way streets and which are not. My car is parked at San Egidio, but when I move it, I have a hard time finding the alleys going the right way for me to get back to that spot. I see buses drawn on the map, and I see bus numbers...125 at San Egidio and buses 23, 280 and 44, where I’d like to go. The trouble is, I’ve not seen any buses anywhere. I’m staying on Vicolo dei Bologna, but with all the walking I’ve done,, there’ve been no big city buses...for how could they come through these “streets”, but I’ve seen so small electric buses that I’ve read about either. Are there buses in the thick of Trastevere...to go from one end to the other ...like from Bologna to Piazza Dei Mercarti?
I have not seen any in that area, but I am not an expert. So I put it in Google Maps and to get across from Bologna to Piazza Mercanti the bus goes along the river, not in the streets in between. To go the reverse it actually crosses the river and goes along the other side - one way streets. Then I put in Bologna to a restaurant in the thick of things - no bus option through the middle.
So no, no busses in the middle as far as I or Google Maps can tell.
One of the nice things about this area is that public transportation does not pass through it..buses skirt the outside and are never more than a short walk away though. The bus routes run along the river and up the hill but not through the middle.
