Public transportation in the veneto

Does anyone have information or experience making a day-trip from venice to Asolo via Castelfranco. I think it's a train from Venice to Castelfranco and then bus or taxi to Asolo, but would welcome advice from anyone who has made the trip. thanks, Elizabeth
