I plan to go from Cefalu to Siracusa by public transportation on a Sunday in May. I see there are a few options for bus and train or a combo of both. The route from Cefalu to Palermo and then to Siracusa is actually the shortest distance but it's back tracking. What's the best website to book with? I've heard that RometoRio is not reliable?? Thanks!
rome2rio is good for an overview but any plans you make should be verified with information from other sources; trenitalia, bus company websites or asking at an official tourist information office. in 2021 I took a bus to enna, stayed for a couple of days then took another bus to catania and transferred to a 3rd to finally reach syracusa. from cefalu you could go all the way via train but have to make connections at messina and catania. no matter how you go it will take at least half a day by public transportation. you have to pay extra attention to bus schedules on sundays.
