Public transport from Trastevere to Termini in Rome

Has anyone been to Rome lately and stayed in Trastevere? I've been searching for the best, easiest way to get from Piazza Belli or Piazza Sonnino in Trastevere to Termini but even their own transporation website, ATAC, is giving incorrect information. They say to take Tram #8 all the way to Termini but I can tell by looking at the Tram map that is has not been extended that far & ends just across the Tiber. We will have to take a bus but don't know where to catch it or if we should take the #8 Tram across the river and catch a bus there somewhere. Does anyone know first hand?

Tram 8 ends as you noted at Argentina, from where you will be, the easiest would be to catch Bus "H", which stops on Viale Trastevere right in Piazza Belli, it goes to Termini.

Katherine,

I'd probably just take a Taxi, as that's the simplest and easiest method (especially if travelling with luggage). I usually ask the Hotel to arrange a Taxi, as they always provide a reliable operator.

Thanks Paul! That's exactly what I needed to know and much easier.

The FR3 goes from the Trastevere station to Termini--we rode it yesterday and it was 2 Euros.

I always take a taxi. It's a supreme hassle to take your luggage on and off of an already crowded tram or bus not to mention making it easier for a potential pickpocket to rummage through your pockets (or luggage) while you are distracted. You won't have to wait for a transfer, and you will avoid dirty looks from the locals if you take a taxi. It doesn't cost that much.

Thanks everyone! We always take the bus and metro when in Rome (and everywhere else in Europe for that matter) so the H Bus is what I was looking for. We wear backpacks so we never have any trouble getting on and off the bus and are fully aware of and prepared for pickpockets. Most of them just take one look at my 6'5" tall 270lb husband and back away. ha
