Public transport Donnalucata to Agrigento

We are staying on the southeastern coast of Sicily, and are finding that even after taxiing to a train station it will take nearly 8 hours (assuming we make some tight connections) and 4 trains to made the circuitous trip to Agrigento. By highway directly it is about 90 miles. I can’t even find a bus route. Any suggestions? Travel part way by water? Ride share?

Take a taxi to Comiso train station (33km, so up to 50 euro fare).
From Comiso train station take a train to Canicatti' , where you will change trains to Agrigento Bassa.
There are very few options. The best is:
Regionale 5470
Dep. COMISO at 14:33
Arr. CANICATTI' at 16:08

Regionale 21519
Dep CANICATTI at 16:11
Arr. AGRIGENTO BASSA at 16.56
if you miss the connection, which is very tight, then the next train is
Regionale 21571
Dep. CANICATTI' at 20:15
Arr. AGRIGENTO BASSA at 21:01

But my question is: what are you doing in Donnalucata without a rental car?

Hello Roberto!

Thank you so much for your advice on how to get to Agrigento by taxi/train. . The answer is we had intended to have a car, but after experiencing driving in Sicily, decided we would go solely with public transport. The good news is our hotel introduced us to a taxi driver who would take us directly from our hotel in Donnalucata to Agrigento for a price we could live with. Mille Grazie!
