we'd like to takeaway sandwich for lunch near Piazza Vittorio Venetto. anywhere with shade / trees to sit on? not sure in those piazzas have public benches

We there are lots and lots of seats, some on round planters and some on the walls of surrounding buildings. Seats in the shade might be a little more iffy, depending on the time of day and the shadows, but you'll have a wide-brimmed hat. FYI, you can explore the whole piazza using Google Street View, that begins with the little gold man in the lower right corner of the map.
