Public buses or water ferries from Cobh Ireland to Kinsale Ireland Sept. 5, 2023

We are sailing on Celebrity Apex and are in port at Cobh, Ireland on Sept. 5th, 2023. We have tried to book excursions offered by the ship and by Viator, but sadly they are all completely booked.
We are 75 and 76 years old on limited funds and we’re hoping some affordable public bus or water ferry options are possible?

Thanks for any help.

There won't be a water option. Too far. The land option would be commuter train from right beside the cruise berth to Cork, bus Cork station forecourt to Kinsale. It is around two hours each way.
I would see that as far too risky (in terms of missed connections resulting in you becoming a pier runner), I personally would catch the train into Cork and explore the city, and also set aside time to explore the emigration museum in Cobh, as well as the Titanic museum and other sites and the Cathedral.
You only have 8 hours in port, 1000-1900, so at best Kinsale would be 1pm arriving, and 3pm leaving- but leaving at 3pm would give little or no leeway for any problems- RTA/bus breakdown/train breakdown.

Thank you so very much. This is just the right way to answer a question. You have covered all the elements of time and risk that helps us make a smart decision. Looks like we will see what a local taxi will charge. That way we will have more control of the day.

Go to Rome2Rio.com and put in Cobh to Kinsale, then click on the Taxi option and scroll down. It lists 3 taxi companies you can contact for information and quotes.
