I will be in Florence for four days and would like to take a public bus tour into the countryside. Any suggestions of bus numbers from the bus station in Florence. I would like to head south from Florence. Thanks, Janet
Hi Janet,
If you want suggested places to take the bus, I took the public bus to Sienna & San Gimingano and it was very easy. I loved both of these towns.
We also took the bus to winery south of Florence in the Chianti region near Greve called Castello di Verrazzano (http://www.verrazzano.com/). It was beautiful and truly felt like this is what I always pictured tuscany looking like. It was a great bus ride and wonderful tour.
I would highly recommend this place. The views were amazing and the people were so friendly!
Have a great trip!
In addition to public bus service, there are also day bus tours organized by the local travel agencies, which offer a variety of tours to the wine country and more. These tours, which are rather pricey, do have the advantage of taking you to several venues on the same day, without having to connect or even to return to Florence. You can definitely see much more of Tuscany in one day by taking one of these commercial bus tours, if you're willing to fork out 60-90 Euros.
