Public Beach in Maremma?

We were thinking of visiting one of the public beaches in Maremma. Has anyone been to one they'd especially recommend? One they'd especially avoid?

It depends when you are planning on going. Cala Violino is spectacular but complicated....more info here

In the Principina area there can be issues with midges.
The beaches between Sterpaia going towards Piombino and Follonica are sandy with Natural areas behind

Are you driving a car?

Most are public. Some spots have beach club concessions where you can rent umbrellas and chairs, but even those must be free for all within 5 meters from the water and they still have free beaches next to them.

Cala Violina, Punta Ala, Giglio island beaches. There are hundreds great beaches to choose from.
