My husband had extensive foot surgery (heel and ankle fusion) and is still recovering. He would like to use a wheelchair at the Vatican but has to have certification of 74% or greater disability. How does he obtain this in the US? He has a disabled parking placard. He has not walked more than a mile in an entire day so far. We booked our trip to Italy in June of 2024 prior to knowing he would have surgery. We will be in Rome, April 1-5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’d send an email to the official website at [email protected]
I also found an article dated 2019 with accessibility guidance. Not sure if the info is still valid, but you could try them too - [email protected]
Good luck!
You could try getting a letter from his doctor stating that he’s disabled - the material that you used to obtain the disabled parking placard might work. You could also get it translated into Italian. Good luck!
